Easter 2012

Easter was fantastic this year. My favorite part? Ryann wore a dress! A semi-frilly one, at that. I tried for a yummy layered dress, but she took one look at it and said, "Momma... I don't like that one". Oh well, I think I loved her umpire-waist number even more. Precious.

We kicked off the weekend by decorating Easter Eggs. I bought the 'tie-dye' kit for daddy, but the instructions made it seem more difficult than actually tie-dying a t-shirt, so we just stuck to solid colors this year. Ryann had a ton of fun, and contrary to the face she's making in the last photo, she loved getting dirty. We started out using the handy-dandy egg wire, moved on to a spoon, and then just ended up using hands. I think her nail beds are still green.

The next morning I snuck downstairs to see if the Easter Bunny came for a visit and had to snap this Christmas-morning-top-of-the-stairs shot. I actually think she may have been more excited for Easter than Christmas, since she reminded me that the Easter Bunny puts jelly beans in the eggs he hides around the house. The memory on this girl!

I think she was pleased with her loot...

After she explored her new toys, and the goodies in her basket, it was time for the hunt! We discovered that her technique is not to go for time, but to check each individual egg to see how many jelly beans are inside. I guess she may as well take advantage of not having a sibling to compete with for the next year. I think she may soon revise her tactics. :)

Later we drove to Fort Collins to celebrate with the Shattucks. Not only did the Easter Bunny leave her a basket there as well, but he filled their front yard with Easter eggs. Lucky for Ryann both Porter and Mason were there to assist. Such good cousins. And such a great day. Hope you all had a great Easter too!
